Do you Know How to Apply Your Mascara

The mascara is one makeup item which can work wonders for your look by simply making your eyes more beautiful than ever. If the mascara is applied the right way, it can change your entire look by giving you thick, lush, and sweeping eyelashes. But then wrongly applied mascara can make even a natural beauty look ugly. After all, everyone hates running mascara or mascara dots on the cheek or clumps of mascara on the eyelashes.

It is true that how you look depends a lot on the kind of mascara you select. But you cannot also ignore the fact that if you want thick, lush eyelashes, you also need to apply it right. After all, you want your beautiful eyelashes to bring out the beauty of your eyes and be the focus of attention in your face. So, here are some expert tips that can help you get the most out of your mascara.

  1. Clean your lashes. Use a tissue to remove any makeup or moisturizer. Remember mascara adheres best to your lashes if they are clean and dry.
  2. Mascara is the final product that you put on your eyes. So, apply your eye shadow and eyeliner. And then apply your mascara.
  3. The right color is the right choice. If you are a blonde with pale skin, black mascara may be too harsh. So, choose brown or brown/black, especially for daytime. For brunettes, black is perfect. You may shy away from colored mascara, but they can give you stunning results. If you want to bring out your blue eyes, navy is perfect. Purple can make your brown eyes look gorgeous. If you want to use green, it can really highlight your eyes, no matter what color they are.
  4. Choose a short and straight mascara brush. Don’t fall for those special wands promising to give you thicker and longer lashes. They don’t work! Short and straight brushes give you the most control.
  5. Are you pumping the brush in and out of the tube to coat it with mascara? Well, stop doing it! You are only letting the air get in the tube and drying the mascara out quicker. So, here is what you should do. Just turn the wand in the tube a few times. That is, just open and close it. This will give an even coat on the brush.
  6. Globs of mascara on the brush should be removed before applying. Just roll the brush slightly on a tissue. You don’t want this excess mascara to form clumps on your lashes.
  7. Make sure to apply mascara from beneath your upper lashes and from above your lower lashes.
  8. Here is how to apply mascara on upper lashes. Open your eyes wide. Allow your head to tilt slightly. Now, place the wand horizontally against the base of the eyelashes. Just roll the brush toward the tips of lashes. Move slightly to the side and continue doing this until you have applied mascara on all your lashes.
  9. Here is how you can apply mascara to your lower lashes. Again, open your eyes wide and slightly tilt your head. This time hold the brush vertically and stroke the tip from the root to the tip of a few lashes at a time.
  10. Time to separate the lashes! Use a metal lash comb. Once the mascara has dried, gently stroke the lashes from the base to the tip.
  11. Curl your lashes with a lash curler either before applying mascara or after the mascara has dried.
  12. If you want to make your lashes appear thicker, just apply a thin line of eyeliner at the base of your lashes and then apply the mascara. Once you have enough practice doing this, you can also draw a very fine line along the tops of your lower lashes also. If you want a more subtle look, don’t use black eyeliner, use brown or gray instead.
  13. If you want your lashes to seem longer, apply the mascara with a vertical brush. It may take time. But the results will definitely be worth it.
  14. Apply mascara at the corners of your eyes. Here is how. Make sure the brush does not have any clumps at the tip. Hold the tip at the corner of the eyes. It should be touching the lashes very lightly. Now, blink once or twice to coat the eye lashes.
  15. Here is a wonderful Hollywood trick for getting thick, lush eyelashes for very special occasions. Apply one coat. Now, pat baby powder or face powder along the tips of the lashes. Make sure you do this before the mascara dries. Then allow the mascara to dry and apply a second coat.

Repair your mascara quickly:

Don’t worry if you smudge a bit of mascara while applying it. Just take a folded tissue. Dip the corner in moisturizer or cleanser. Dab the smudged mascara with it and wipe away.

Get a quick finish

Take a facial tissue and fold it to get a smooth edge. Now, just gently slide the edge of he tissue under the eye beneath your lower lashes. Blink once or twice. The excess mascara will be removed by the facial tissue.
